The plans below were drawn up by the Friends group with support from council officers in the Parks and Countryside Service of SBC. They have subsequently been agreed by Scarborough Borough Council. We are currently working towards funding for the development programme which will be carried out in 4 Phases.
Phase 1 commenced in July 2007. It consists of the re-instatement of the pathways leading from the Castle down to the sea front. It will include additional recreational facilities and information about the geology and history of the area. Subject to a succesful grant application an exercise trail will also be built in the level area shown on plan 2 below Queens Parade.
Phase 2 includes a much larger skate park that will be re-located on the sea front near the end of the path re-instatement of phase 1. The current skate park will be replaced by an adventure playground aimed at the 8 to 12 age range. Over half the funding for this has been committed already and it is hoped to have the rest in place for a start in spring 2008. |
